We use the ‘Jigsaw’ program to support our teaching and learning of skills. This is a scheme of work for the whole school from Early Years to Year 6. It brings together emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development. We teach with a whole school approach so that each unit of work is delivered at the same time across the school.

Summer term 2017 – ‘Changing Me’
This area of Jigsaw covers the changes that children will face, both physically and emotionally. This will cover aspects of Sex and Relationship education. At Great Heath Academy we believe that knowledge empowers children to make informed decisions that keep them happy, safe and secure. The previous 5 units build resilience, self esteem and confidence and the ability to deal with appropriate information without fear or embarrassment.
I have held two parent workshops to allow parents to look at what and how their children will be learning. The full presentation is available to view here SRE presentation.
There is a parent guide to Sex and Relationship Education through ‘Jigsaw’ which can be viewed and downloaded here.
