Hercules Class

Hercules

Welcome to Hercules Class.

Our teacher is Miss Clark

In Hercules class, we are very lucky to have Mrs Slack, our teaching assistant, to help us with our learning.

Well done to Ryan who was voted to be Hercules school council member!

Well done to our Maths and English stars of last half term, they were:

Maths stars: Bailey and Jessica

Writing stars: Samantha and Charlie

Why not take a look at what we have been learning about…?

In English we have been learning about Myths and had a go at writing our own. This inspired us a lot because we designed our own mythical creatures. We’ve also been learning about poetry and have written some amazing poems. See if you can work out what this riddle is about…

I am as cold as a freezer
I am used for some animals
People skate on me for fun
Walruses need me for air
Cars don’t like me
I am an element

What am I?

We have a reading challenge in Hercules called Readopoly. Every time a child reads at home they get the chance to move along on the board and earn rewards. Let’s see who can get the furthest this year! A massive well done to 3 children who have already read over 60 times so far!

Maths_Symbols   In maths we have been learning a new method for multiplying a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number. We now know short multiplication and grid method. We have also recapped fractions and are becoming confident at finding fractions of amounts.

Topic_Symbol   Our topic this term is called “Active Planet”. This includes looking at volcanoes and earthquakes. We have found out lots about these already. We know what causes them and how to build an earthquake proof building. We also used music to represent a volcano erupting which was lots of fun! This half term we will be making volcanoes and using art to represent a volcano using hot and cold colours.

Our topic corner to inspire us during our learning!

Homework Homework is handed out on a weekly basis and is expected to be returned on a Thursday. The work will either be linked to the maths, English or topic work we have covered that week. We also send spellings home each week which need to be practised regularly.
