This term our topic is ‘Growth and Change’ followed by ‘Mad about Minibeasts’ later in the Summer term.
Phonics and Writing
The children are becoming more confident with writing short sentences and captions. Children are encouraged to write sentences using their phonic knowledge. They include ‘finger spaces’ between words, a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence and a full stop at the end.
We practise blending and segmenting every day in our phonics sessions. We add sound buttons underneath each sound to help read the words with digraph/trigraph sounds represented by a line.
In Maths we will be learning about money. We will also explore the number bonds to 10 (the pairs of numbers that add up to ten), doubling, halving and sharing. We will practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
Learning at home
Thank you for sharing your child’s learning from home on Tapestry. Please continue to send photos and comments of the fantastic ‘WOW’ learning moments that happen at home. The children love sharing their photos with their friends in class.
Reading at home: please record in the yellow reading records when your child has read at home. Each time they read at home, the children receive a teddy bear stamp in their book. Children love getting their rewards and certificates for super reading at home.
PE: Our PE day is Monday. Please make sure your PE Kit is in school. Also please remember to tie back long hair and remove earrings. Thank you.
Sun Safety: As the weather gets warmer please remember to send your child to school with a sun hat/cap and a bottle of water. We also advise that you apply sunscreen before school.
