Phonics

Children have been practising using digraphs and trigraphs in their reading and writing.

A digraph is two letters that make one sound, e.g. ‘oo’ in moon.

A trigraph is three letters that make one sound, e.g. ‘igh’ in night.

A split digraph is a digraph such as ae, ie, oe, ee, ue that is  ‘split’ by a consonant, e.g. the ‘ie’ digraph has been split by the letter n to make the word, ‘pine’.

We will share new sounds in the phonics home book.

Maths

In Maths, we have been learning about doubling, halving and sharing. We use the part-part-whole mats to help us. We continue to do lots of counting and learning to recognise and order numbers to 20. We have also started to learn number bonds to 10, (pairs of numbers that add up to 10)

We use Numicon to help us learn about numbers.

We continue to learn about 2D and 3D shapes and have been on shape hunts at school and at home!

Learning at home

Thank you for sharing your child’s learning from home on Tapestry

Reminders

Sun Safety: please remember to apply sun screen to your child before school and bring a hat.

RECbook  Reading at home: please record in the yellow reading records when your child has read at home. Each time they do they receive a star stamp in their book. Children love getting their certificate for super reading at home, in assembly.

RECpePE: Our PE day is Friday. Please make sure your PE Kit is in school. Also please remember to tie back long hair and remove earrings. Thank you.
